The sign of the fish is an ancient symbol of the Christian faith. Not only were the earliest disciples of Jesus told that they would become fishers of men (since they were called away from the profession as fishermen), but the word for fish in the Greek (commonly spoken in the lands where Jesus and the early Christians lived) form an acrostic for "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior."
