We are not quite ready to face the enemy or even daily life
until we have taken up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the
Word of God. The Bible has much to say about trusting what
God says. All our strength against a spiritual horde that
wars against all truth and light and goodness is in trusting God
to keep His Word.
In daily life we will be tested more often than we ever wanted
to be as to whether or not we count God as true and faithful.
I hate such testing because it can become a bitter struggle.
The enemy (the devil and spiritual legions of darkness) knows
all our weaknesses, it seems. But God will help us, and we
are told to keep His Word in our hearts, so that we will be able
to stand in the day of trouble.
Likewise, God's Word stands to prove us, through and through,
testing every thought and deed. Scripture says that God's
Word is sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing right down to
the very heart of the matter:
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12,
NKJV) |
