In many cities and communities of America church and Sunday School provides one of the few safe and happy places for children to gather.  As a young boy, I had very little use for church.  Sitting in the pews and listening to adult things did not amuse or interest me very much.  But I do remember enjoying Sunday School, where we learned simple stories about Jesus, and we were allowed to color pictures and to sing songs more meaningful to children.

Today things are much better for lots of kids.  Churches often have special programs for the children while the adults gather in the main sanctuary for worship and preaching.  This does not mean that the children are not exposed to worship or sound teaching, only that they are often being reached on their own level.

Children in unhappy homes often enjoy getting away to a place where others are happy, singing and learning good things.  Too many young children have serious adult issues being forced on them at home, in public schools, and on the streets where they live and play.  They need a place that is just for them.  They need Vacation Bible Schools, Children's Bible Hour, and other activities designed by a caring Christian community just for them.
