Lighthouses are popular images in much of the world.  Many people collect the images in photographs, imprinted plates, sculptures, paintings, and in other decorative forms.

For Christians, the lighthouse often holds a much deeper meaning as a symbol of our walk and witness in the world.  We are told in Scripture that Jesus came as light into the world, and that whoever follows Him no longer walks in darkness.  In Christ, we become the light of the world.  Let us be as good and effective lighthouses in the darkness that fills this world.

The Lord Jesus said:

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 8:12 NKJV)
