Where does the Christian believer get power?  Where do we find real wisdom and courage in a crises?  How can we hope to overcome the obstacles to our faith?  The secret of a meaningful spiritual life is the Presence of God.  We need to linger before the Lord.

Do you remember what Jesus often did?  He would slip away from the crowds and from His own followers and He would get alone with the Father in prayer.  If the Lord Jesus needed to be alone with God, then so do you and I.

I'm not just talking about a formal exercise of prayer.  But I am talking about real and meaningful time alone with God, when the two of you share what is on your hearts.  Or did you not know that God would share with you the thoughts and concerns of His heart?

The Bible teaches us that God wants our company and that He rewards those who spend time with Him.  He will teach you and lead you and prepare you, and He will make things plain that have always confused you.

If you want real power and real wisdom as a follower of Jesus Christ, then you must learn to walk with Christ.  Jesus taught His disciples many things as they were gathered in the house, and when they were in the boat, on the way to another shore, and when they were out walking on a long road to another province or town.  He will speak with you in many of the same ways. 

Meet with Him in your house.  Linger in the Scriptures which are the undiluted truth of God.  Spend time in prayer.  Talk with the Lord as you work with your hands.  Share your worries and fears, your moments of joy, your ideas and questions.  Talk with God while you drive or ride to work, when you are alone and even when you are with others.

Through Jesus Christ God is is with every human soul who believes in Him.  By His Holy Spirit, His Presence is available to you no matter where you are.  He can and will open His heart to every human being that trusts in Him and that opens their heart and mind to Him.

My advice?  Seek the Lord and His strength.  Seek His Presence forevermore — all the time.  Pray continually.  Meditate on the words and teachings of the Lord.  Test and retest everything you accept as truth from God.  He will always powerfully confirm His truth, again and again.  Take to heart every promise and every warning of Scripture.  Learn the lessons that Jesus wants to teach you.  Remain in His good presence all day long.
