Clip Art Image: Count Your Blessings — Name them all and remember

No matter how happy we may be in most areas of our lives, there seems to always be something threatening or happening that can make us unhappy. Such is life on planet earth.

I have found, however, that even when things really seem to be bad, and getting worse by the moment, I still have more blessings than I can actually count.

I believe we should always pray straightforward and honest prayers to God. When things are bad or scary, we should be honest enough with the Lord to say so. But if we find ourselves complaining a lot, or whining, or endlessly begging, then it is time to stop and give thanks for all that the Lord has already been doing for us.

God is the One who loves us and keeps us. He does not do every little thing we might want Him to do. He is God and Lord, after all, and not our servant. But His pleasure is to bless us with every truly good thing. He will bless us more than we could ever ask or think. He will keep us even in the shadow of death itself.

Count your blessings. Name all the things the Lord is already doing, and all the prayers He has already answered for you. Be thankful and then take heart. If the Lord has done all of this for you, will He not also take good care of you in the days to come? Of course He will.
